The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC), based in Ajmer, has outlined the syllabus for the Protection Officer Competitive Examination. This exam is conducted by the Department of Women and Child Development.

Scheme of Examination
  1. The Competitive Examination will total 600 marks, consisting of two papers, each worth 300 marks. Both papers will have a duration of 3 hours each.
  2. Candidates must complete the compulsory Paper-I (General Studies) and choose one optional paper from Social Work, Law.
  3. A minimum of 40% is required in each paper to pass.
  4. All questions in both papers will be multiple choice.
  5. Negative marking will apply: one-third of the marks for a question will be deducted for each incorrect answer, including multiple answers.
  6. Papers must be answered in either English or Hindi. Mixed answers in both languages are not permitted unless specifically allowed.

  2. Freedom Movement, Political Awakening and Integration
  3. Salient features of Architecture – Forts and Monuments
  4. Arts, Paintings and Handicrafts.
  5. Important Works of Rajasthani literature. Local Dialects
  6. Fairs, Festivals, Folk Music and Folk Dances.
  7. Rajsathani Culture, Traditions and Heritage.
  8. Religious Movements, Saints & Lok Devtas of Rajasthan.
  9. Important Tourist Places.
  10. Leading Personalities of Rajasthan.
Unit II: Indian History

Ancient & Medieval Period:
  1. Salient features and Major Landmarks of Ancient and Medieval India
  2. Art, Culture, Literature and Architecture.
  3. Major Dynasties, Their Administrative System. Socio-Economic Conditions, Prominent
    Movements.
Modern Period:
  1. Modern Indian history (from about the middle of the eighteenth century until the present)- significant events, personalities and issues.
  2. The Freedom Struggle & Indian National Movement- its various stages and important contributors and contributions from different parts of the country.
  3. Social and Religious Reform movements in the 19th and 20th century.
  4. Post-independence consolidation and reorganization within the country.

Constitutional Development & Indian Constitution

Government of India Acts: 1919 and 1935, Constituent Assembly, Nature of Indian Constitution; Preamble, Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles of State, Fundamental Duties, Federal Structure, Constitutional Amendments, Emergency Provisions, Public Interest Litigation (P.I.L.) and Judicial Review.
